YOGA AND ASANAS
Yoga is a highly beneficial exercise for the body, mind, and spirit. The resulting common asanas and their importance are:
Tadasana (Mountain Pose):

These include improved posture; alleviating sciatic nerve pain, strengthening the abdomen and gluteus maximus, and toning thighs, knees, and ankles.
Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward-Facing Dog Pose):

It stretches out the shoulders, hamstrings, calves, arches, and wrists while at the same time making the arms and legs stronger; it revitalizes one’s energy levels thus reducing mild depression or stress.
Balasana (Child's Pose):

These include stretching of the hips, thighs, and ankles; calming of the mind which helps in relieving stress and fatigue; and slight extension of the vertebral column.
Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose):

Some main advantages are: it enhances strength in the spine; expands the chest thereby stretching lungs as well as shoulders; tightens buttocks muscles; and gives impetus to inner abdominal organs thereby reducing anxiety or tiredness.
Virabhadrasana I (Warrior Pose I):

Among its benefits are: making legs more durable while stretching them along with feet in addition to opening up hips, chest, or lungs that improve concentration plus mental equilibrium.
Virabhadrasana II (Warrior Pose II):

They include strengthening legs along with extending these areas’ scope by flexing groins; also fortifying chests alongside lungs together with shoulders enhances endurance hence increasing physical power.
Savasana (Corpse Pose):

Benefits: Reduces tension, relieves headache, fatigue, and insomnia, and helps to lower blood pressure, and pacifies the nervous system.
Headstand:

Benefits: Improves circulation, strengthens the core and shoulders, increases focus and concentration, relieves stress and mild depression.
Lotus Pose (Padmasana):

Benefits: Opens hips, soothes the mind, increases awareness and attentiveness while keeping the spine erect.
These are a few examples of yoga poses with their respective benefits. Regular practicing of yoga can result in improved flexibility strength balance body fitness at large. Therefore one must be under the supervision of a qualified yoga instructor especially when starting to avoid injury by maintaining proper alignment.
