Top Tips to Maximise Your Gold Loan Value While Applying
A gold loan is an extremely reliable and secure way of obtaining credit with minimal hassles. It is also quite reliable due to its simplicity and fast processing. Benefits associated with gold loans include easy online applications, flexible terms for repayment, and a quick approval process. The eligibility criteria are simple. Interest rates are lower compared to personal loans. But now, this loan although seems cost-effective, it still provides a way in order to maximise its use. Below are the most effective strategies to help you extract the utmost value from your gold loan. Tips to Avail High-Value Gold Loan When You are Applying Following are a few important tips to maximise the value when you apply gold loan 1. Interest Rate Comparison One of the most important aspects of the gold loan is the rate of interest. Different interest rates are offered by various banks and financial institutions. You must compare these to find the best deal that suits your needs. In this way, the interest rate is directly proportional to the cost of borrowing. There can be a huge amount of savings done in the long run by researching interest rates with many lenders. One should go for a lender that can offer competitive rates along with other loan features. 2. Select Appropriate Repayment Facility The right repayment option would make your gold loan easy to service and economical. Gold loan providers normally provide various types of repayment options, and each one has its merits. Larger monthly payments are usually provided with long-term loans. However, these loans are likely to result in a high total interest payment. On the other hand, small monthly payments might be achieved with a short-term loan, but at the cost of high interest payments. Your choice should depend on your budget and financial abilities. Favourable repayment options are: Standard EMI Option: The borrower pays both principal and interest every month. Interest-Only Option: The borrower pays only the interest during the tenure, and the principal is paid at the end. Bullet Repayment: The borrower repays the entire loan amount at once at the end of the tenure. Partial Payment Option: A combination of principal and interest paid in regular monthly instalments. 3. Negotiate Processing fees Processing fees and additional charges may increase the cost of your gold loan. Most lenders charge an upfront processing fee for granting the loan. Ask your lender if there is room for negotiating or reducing these charges before finalising the loan. It is equally important to discuss fees like administrative charges or documentation fees as well. These charges often have to be reduced or even waived, especially when you are a loyal customer or have an excellent credit record. These charges reduce your overall loan cost by quite a significant margin. 4. Opt for pre-payments Prepayments will always save you the amount of total interest that would have accrued on the loan taken. If you have extra funds, consider making prepayments to lower the outstanding principal amount. This will directly reduce the interest on your loan, saving you money in the long term. However, before making any prepayments, confirm that your lender doesn't impose pre-closure charges. Always read the terms and conditions to ensure there are no hidden fees before making early payments. 5. Stay Informed About Market Value Gold rates fluctuate with market conditions. Gold loans are secured loans, and hence, the amount you can avail of depends on the present gold price in the market. The best way to increase the loan amount is by keeping abreast of the present prices of gold. When the gold price is high, the lenders will give you a higher loan amount as compared to the proportion of the gold value. 6. Correct Appraisal of Your Gold The appraisal process of your gold decides the amount you can take as a loan. A proper valuation of your gold is essential to obtain a maximum loan amount. Lenders, as a general rule of thumb, check the purity and weight of your gold. To ensure that you will get the highest loanable amount, ensure that the gold is appraised by a trusted and experienced appraiser. If you need a loan, get multiple opinions on your gold's value before finalising the loan. Bonus Tip: Timely Repayment is Key Keep a good credit history as this will serve you in your future life. Return your gold loan in due time to save penalty and late charges. Thus, returning the gold loan in time will improve your credit score, thereby increasing your creditworthiness, which helps you avail better terms and conditions for further loans. In case of difficulties in monthly payments, you can inform your lender in advance so that you are not put through additional financial pressure. Conclusion By following these tips, you can maximise the value of your gold loan and reduce unnecessary costs. Always compare interest rates, select the right repayment option, and negotiate fees before finalising your loan to ensure you meet the gold loan eligibility criteria. In addition, maintaining timely repayment will not only help you save money on your gold loan but also enhance your financial standing for future loans. '

India's first orbital launch is expected to happen in 2025 as start-ups like Skyroot and Agnikul complete their sub-orbital launches, said Lt Gen AK Bhatt (Retd), Director General of the Indian Space Association (IspA). Looking back at the year, Bhatt praised the public-private partnership model and anticipated private players to further spurn the space sector. Particularly, he expect Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)to inviteprivate players to develop Small Satellite Launch Vehicles (SSLV) to drive competitive potential. "The technology transfer for the launch vehicle to private players will create an interesting market for launch vehicles in India. We expect Pixxel to expand its satellite constellation with the ultimate aim of total 36 satellites in the low earth orbit. Another domain where the private sector will participate is earth stations, allowing players to have earth stations-as-a-service," said Bhatt. PPP model Earlier this year, ISRO had invited private firms to apply for the end-to-end manufacturing of the Launch Vehicle Mark-III, used in Chandrayaan-2&3. Similarly, IN-SPACe called for initial bids from domestic companies for Earth Observation satellites. "These initiatives mark the Centre's push to become a key customer for India's private space sector through a public-private partnership (PPP) model," said the Director General adding that the growing demand for satellite-based data, particularly in North America, Europe, and Asia, creates immense scaling opportunities for India. Aside from space developments, Bhatt also spoke about FASTag GPS, a satellite-based toll collection system piloted by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to replace the current FASTag system on expressways, as a potentially revolutionary move. Coming years pivotal "The coming years will be pivotal for India's space sector, with rapid advancements driven by strategic collaborations, cutting-edge technology, and the growing involvement of the private sector. With the right policies and continued innovation, India is poised to become a global leader in space exploration, satellite services, and applications that will benefit various industries, including agriculture, infrastructure, and defence," he said. How 18% GST could hurt demand for used cars
India's booming pre-owned car market is set to slow down. This comes after the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council increased tax rates on used cars from 12% to 18%. The decision, taken on December 21, applies to all kinds of pre-owned vehicles including electric ones. However, the revised GST rates only apply to vehicles bought by businesses. Notably, the new tax structure doesn't apply to people who buy and sell old vehicles, as their tax rate continues to be 12%. The decision has been criticized by opposition leaders such as Arvind Kejriwal and Akhilesh Yadav, who accused the government of favoring the affluent class. "In a country with single-digit car ownership, policies that impact affordability like the recent GST hike can unintentionally slow down this progress," warned Vikram Chopra, CEO of Cars24. The GST rate hike comes at a time when the used car segment is booming. In FY23, India sold 51 lakh used cars, taking the industry's value to $34 billion. This segment is tipped to grow further to $73 billion and sell 1.09 crore used cars by FY28, as per a recent report by Car&bike and Das WeltAuto by Volkswagen. Chopra stressed used cars are critical in providing mobility to millions of Indians, especially those living in Tier 2/3 cities and rural areas. He was concerned that the new GST rates could hamper the sector's growth prospects. "The hiked rates will especially be painful because there are already other components that are taxed at a high rate," he added. Amber Sayad, the head of the pre-owned cars business at Stellantis, emphasized that parts and services used for repair and maintenance of second-hand cars already attract 18% GST. This further raises operational costs in the used car market. "If the GST rate hike is implemented, the industry may face higher overall taxation on second-hand vehicle sales, potentially slowing down demand in this segment," Sayad warned. Businesses that purchase pre-owned cars as capital assets, such as certain ride-hailing companies and e-commerce platforms, will be hit the hardest by the higher tax rates. Sandeep Aggarwal, the Founder and CEO of Droom, a used car marketplace, said, "In the last few years due to ride-hailing, quick commerce and food delivery automobiles have become a significant asset to make money." He added, "For such businesses buying used cars has now become more expensive." Organized used car dealers serving smaller businesses are also likely to be affected by this tax hike. According to the Indian Blue Book (IBB) report, the unorganized segment constitutes roughly 45-50% of the pre-owned cars market while organized transactions account for about 20%. The rest 30-35% is accounted for by consumer-to-consumer (C2C) transactions.
British chocolate brand Cadbury loses royal warrant after 170 years
Iconic British chocolate brand Cadbury has been dropped from the royal warrant list by King Charles. This is the first time in 170 years that Cadbury has not been awarded the prestigious recognition. The decision was revealed by the Royal Warrant Holders Association at Buckingham Palace. The first royal endorsement for Cadbury was given in 1854 by Queen Victoria and continued through Queen Elizabeth II's reign until her death in 2022. Cadbury isn't the only brand to lose its royal warrant under King Charles's reign. It is among some 100 brands and products to have lost the distinction. The list also features Charbonnel et Walker Ltd, a luxury chocolate maker, which was dropped from the list since Queen Elizabeth II's last update in April 2023. Unilever, known for Marmite, Magnum ice cream bars, and Pot Noodles, is another notable exclusion from the current list. The tradition of royal warrants dates back to the 15th century. It is an official acknowledgment that a company or individual supplies goods or services to the royal household. Each warrant is usually granted for up to five years. King Charles first issued warrants in 1980 when he was still the Prince of Wales. This is his second list since ascending the throne with Bendicks and Prestat being the only two named chocolatiers remaining on it. The removal of Cadbury from the royal warrant list comes as a major blow to its parent company, Mondelez UK. The firm has already witnessed a one-third drop in profits in the year ending December 2023, with earnings dropping to £88.1 million. Cadbury was controversially acquired by US-based Kraft in 2010 before part of its business was spun off to create Mondelez International, its current owner.
